The Gypsy King hasn’t fought since emphatically stopping British rival Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium earlier this year, after which the WBC champion outlined his intention to hang up his gloves for good.

Fury’s statement was brushed aside by most, particularly with 33-year-old refusing to relinquish his WBC strap, and Warren believes his fighter will now return sooner rather than later.

Fury’s long-term rival Anthony Joshua is set for a carer-defining rematch against Oleksandr Usyk on August 20, having lost his WBA, WBO and IBF belts to the Ukrainian mastermind last September.

Warren insists the outcome will likely determine his fighter’s next move, with Fury expected to take on the winner in an historic heavyweight undisputed clash.

‘[Fury] has got itchy feet at the moment, he wants to fight,’ Warren told talkSPORT.

‘I think what’s going to happen is, see what happens on 20 [August] and the outcome of that, and that’ll determine what he intends to do in the future.

‘My opinion – this is not from him, it’s from me: I think he will [return], because he’s a fighting man and he misses it. That’s what he does, he wants to fight.’

Fury’s US promoter Bob Arum (right) has revealed they are already in talks with Usyk’s camp over an undisputed showdown

Warren is not the only member of the Fury camp insisting an imminent return is on the cards, with US promoter Bob Arum recently revealing talks are already underway for a showdown against Usyk.

Arum, 90, expects Usyk to emerge victorious once more when the pair do battle in Saudi Arabia, insisting a fight against Fury could be arranged for either December or early next year.

Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn has also revealed the Fury camp recently put in an offer to take on Derek Chisora for a third time, though indicating a fight between the pair is unlikely with the offer deemed unsatisfactory.

While Fury’s team insist the heavyweight champion is awaiting the outcome of the all-important match-up between Joshua and Usyk before making any decisions, Warren believes the Gypsy King should return imminently or not at all.

Warren also claims Fury, who moved to 32-0-1 with victory over Whyte, is still not yet at the peak of his powers.

‘I don’t want him to retire and come back in three years,’ he continued. ‘If he’s going to retire, don’t come back. If you’re going to come back, fight in your prime.

‘Three years later you change. I genuinely don’t think he’s at his peak yet.’
